Cloister of the Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio

Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio: cloister

The Catholic ceremony, according to the Ambrosian rite, will be held starting at 10:30 AM on December 13, 2014 at the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio, one of the oldest churches in Milan and the second most important in the city after the Duomo (metropolitan Basilica Cathedral of Santa Maria Nascente). Formal wear is recommended, and ladies should not to dress in white. The Basilica is located in Piazza Sant’Ambrogio in Milan downtown. Following are some tips to reach the Basilica on the day of our wedding.

By car

By entering “Piazza Sant’Ambrogio, Milan” in most GPS navigators, the destination is set correctly. As the ceremony takes place during the weekend, it is not necessary to pay the fee to enter Milano’s areaC (that is, the congestion charge zone). There are two parking lots in the immediate vicinity of the Basilica. One is located near Via Olona 7. The other, about to open, is at the crossing of Via Santa Agnese with Piazza Sant’Ambrogio.

By public transport

The Basilica is easily reached by getting off at “Sant’Ambrogio” station of the underground line M2 (green), or with bus lines 50, 58, and 94. The website of Milano’s public transport company can help you plan your trip by entering “Piazza Sant’Ambrogio” as the destination. A standard ticket is sufficient to reach the Basilica from within the municipality of Milano. Tickets can be purchased from Milano’s public transport company and from most bars, newsstands, and tobacconists.
